During the spring of 2015, the CU News Corps team produced a documentary film titled “Taking the Lede.”
The film tells the story of student press freedom over the 25 years since the Colorado General Assembly passed the Student Freedom of Expression Law in 1990.
This new documentary tells the stories of student journalists who have covered difficult stories during times of crisis; who have done groundbreaking investigative work that brought the Pentagon’s wheels to a grinding halt; and who have drawn attention to critical human rights issues.
The film won a Best of Competition Award at the Broadcast Education Association’s 2016 Festival of Media Arts.
CU News Corps is an explanatory and investigative news project offered through the Journalism Department in the College of Media, Communication and Information at the University of Colorado Boulder. Their work is made possible by the generous support of Bill and Kathy Scripps.
